New Year’s Style & Shine Look

31 Dec

ShopStyleNewYears

Some fun ideas for a super chic and shiny New Year’s Eve party style, if I had oodles of cash to spend on a swanky outfit!

I did toss in one of my favorite cosmetic/perfume artists : Serge Lutens. The “à la nuit” eau de parfum hinting to the incredible Moon Drop pearl and diamond earrings by Renee Lewis. And then a little edginess mixed in with the snakeskin Kotur clutch and the Roberto Cavalli crystal snake ring. And well, every girl needs a little sparkle head-to-toe at an end-of-the-year party, so I threw in some sparkly soled Le Silla peep-toes, a simple yet beautiful single pearl and white gold bangle by Melanie Georgacopoulos and a pearl shine Diorific nail lacquer.  And of course….the dress! A Kaufman Franco asymmetrical draped stunner all made of sequins.

Now if this outfit doesn’t make you glow, I don’t know what will!

See more of my styled outfits at my ShopStyle page…

I will not however be wearing anything nearly as fabulous as this gorgeous ensemble. Chéri and I were planning on joining my in-laws at a country home of a good family friend, but as Chéri has been sick for 3 days and if he doesn’t feel better tomorrow, we may just stay in Paris and hang out together at home in our PJ’s and sip home made hot chocolate (spiked with rum of course). And that is just fine with me too!

My perfumes

18 Dec

I am a bit of a perfume junkie. If you have been followinng this blog for any significant length of time you may have figured that out yourself. I think I have a slightly accute sense of smell and an infidèle addiction to perfumes. But there are a handful of scents that I truly, truly  love, and will hold onto for many years to come… They are quite a varied collection, with a different mood and humeur for different days, seasons and desires.

Annick Goutal, Petite Chérie

Annick Goutal created in 1998 a perfume dedicated to her daughter Camille, and called it Petite Chérie. (“Little Sweetie”). This perfume embodies to me, that ultime desire for a delightful snuggle, and soft, happy and wonderful hug from someone who loves you dearly. The perfume is floral and sweet with a strong hint of pear, but does not have that stickiness to its sweet side. It smells more like a fresh juicy pear that you just bit into. A discrete perfume. It is the smell of pure bliss. Continue reading

Nécessaire de Beauté – Serge Lutens

Recently I was graciously invited to join a small panel of bloggers for a presentation of the Serge Lutens make-up line and what he calls the “nécessaire de beauté”. Beauty essentials. I love the Serge Lutens boutique at Palais Royal and have purchased and tested several of his perfumes. I love his work for its originality, it’s search for artistry with a palette of scents, and the way his perfumes can whisk me away somewhere else or invoke a striking emotion. So, of course I was curious to discover what he can do with make-up.

Continue reading

Keep a clone in Paris

26 May

I think Rick Owens really loves Paris. He’s always here! Or at least it looks like he is. LOL!

I was showing a colleague who was in town the Serge Lutens boutique at the Palais Royal galleries, and as we were waiting for the perfume to develope on his arms (he tested several), we strolled around the covered gallery to window-shop (or lèchcer les vitrines si vous voulez). As we pased by the Rick Owens boutique we, looked through the glass and were surprised to see…Rick Owens himself! He was standing up on a shallow podium, and I assumed they were doing some kind of photo shoot…. he was standing really still. Too still. “He’s not blinking” I said to my colleague. We waited a minute. Then decided that it was sure, Rick Owens was made of wax.

I find this rather hilarious, that he has a wax statue of himself in the boutique. I supose it is to show shoppers how to wear the clothing? But what I really want to know is if they add tatoos on the wax statue if Rick gets a new one…? Hahaha!

Serge Lutens – a voyage for the senses

There is a place where you can take a trip of sensations, olfactory voyages down memory lane or places yet to be discovered.

P1030142
Tucked away in the gallery boutiques of the Palais Royal, Serge Lutens hosts a magical journey in his boutique at the Shiseido shop. This place, conceptualized by Serge Lutens himself,is unique in the world, and the only place that sells his exclusive line :

Rich with colors and sensuality, these liquid elixirs come from classic and pure elements, that are married with care and creativity to the imagination of Mr. Lutens. And they do bring your imagination on a trip…somewhere… Come in and test these delicately concocted scents, each one unique, each one containing the recollection of places past or things yet to be seen, mysteries and memories, longings and luxurious possessions, these scents hold the promise of sensation.

P1030145Smell, test, describe, reminisce, wait, smell again, wonder, wander, indulge, return, test, savor, dream…

Serge Lutens…he starts out at 14 years old, in a chic hair salon in Paris, where he dolls up his friends, and photographs them… this gains him a leg up from Vogue who hires him to do make and hairstyles for their magazine, and then Dior stakes their claim on him, asking him to create a line of luxury make-up… he continues his photography and exposes it in New York and other museums around the world, he makes movies, he becomes a nez, a perfume creator, a marketing expert, an interior designer…what DOESN’T he do?!? A creative person by nature, he finds sensuality everywhere. You can find it at 142, Galerie de Valois, 75001 Paris
