Style Star : Cara Delevingne

This little lady is taking the glossy pages, the runways and social media by storm, and is well on her way to becoming the next Kate Moss.

She has the ability to incarnate any different type of woman for the fashion brands. Whether it’s rock n’ roll, sweet and sexy or classic chic Cara has a chameleon-like way of changing her aura to fit the role she’s in. She owns the look, regardless if its a red carpet event, a lingerie ad campaign or her own life.

Dressing Like Dita

I have a lovely habit of wasting time on one of my favorite websites : ShopStyle. It’s like having the world as a closet and being able to create outfits form millions and millions of articles. It’s addicting. I am warning you now.

I am also a big fan of Dita. You know who I am talking about. She inspires me and well frankly, I wish I had her waredrobe and work-out regime!

I created some looks from pictures of Dita Von Teese found off of Google. It was time-consuming but fun to browse thousands of pieces of clothing and accessories, looking for that one perfect piece to illustrate her outfits.

Vintage heaven

♫ Where do used clothes go when they die? They don’t go to heaven where the clothespins fly. Go to a hanging wire and dry. Wear ‘em again til the Fourth of July… ♬

Actually they are reincarnated and get a chance at life again…. as they wait in Nirvana (anyone getting my little joke here?!?) where you may try them on for size and purchase them if you so fancy, so that they do live again. This place can otherwise be referred to as Thanx God I’m a V.I.P. and it can be reached by taking the righteous path to the 10th arrondissement in Paris, France.

Dior

I have never seen such a beautiful vintage store in my entire life. IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. The young couple that are the owners, have a knack for meticulous almost borderline maniac arranging capabilities, their store is IMPECCABLE…and everywhere you look you see a picture perfect line of color coordinated-gradient racks of frocks and feathers and fun, fun, fun things! They even have a stunning Dior evening gown to dream about. A ground level and an underground level great you with eyefuls of color, clean lines, spaciousness for browsing and so many many tangible articles. All of their articles are quality to luxury… there is NO bottom-of-the-barrel stuff here!

impeccable...

Opened in 2009, Sylvie Chategnier, the driving force behind this stunning boutique, used to sell vintage luxury clothing items in her private boutique by rendez-vous only. La ti da! Thanx God I’m a VIP also has their own it-bag brand, and they do touch-ups and hemming in their store. Thanks God, because if you find something that you just can’t live without but it doesn’t fit well, they can help!

What women want – Ce que veulent les femmes

And what is it that they want? Well, at the moment it is a Yves Saint Laurent frock, gown, garment, glove…anything.

The artist who disappeared from this world in 2008 is not to be easily forgotten. Madame Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has teamed up with the Petit Palais and the Foundation of Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurant (Pierre Bergé was Yves life partner), to create a special homage to the man who understood the grace of the female body better than most women do.

The exposition which was opened in March, will be coming to a close soon on the 29th of August. I suggest you go as quickly as possible to see this stunning spectacle of fashion, artistry and pure genius.

YSL was a master of using texture, shapes, lines, colors and movement in his work, and this display shows about 300 pieces of his haute couture work, as well as photographs and film. Sometimes shocking, often innovative and always the emblem of elegance Yves creations will forever remain works of art.

YSL, started at the age of 19 as Christian Dior’s assistant modéliste . He then took over the maison when Dior passed two years later. In 1961 his own maison is created YSL, under the guidance of Pierre Bergé, and Yves went on to revolutionize fashion for decades.

The exposition has a well thought out scenographie, and you flow through the rooms as if on air, passing in front of one gorgeous piece to the next, with each one calling out to you to touch (which is not allowed), so you feel them with your gaze. All those folds of taffeta, tweed, silk, satin, velvet, tulle, lace and embroidery are enough to drive a lady mad, or ecstatic, or both. You exit feeling as if you have wings, or are wearing a silk gown… same thing.
