How does this award work?!?

2. Announce your win with a post and link to whoever presented your award (Ok no one presented me with one, but I figured it has to start somewhere!)

3. Present 15 awards to deserving bloggers that you like to read…

4. Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post.

5. Post 7 interesting things about yourself

My nominees for the Beautiful Blogger Award:

I follow and read these bloggers on their websites or instagram or twitter accounts or all of the above, and they help me perpetuate my constantly renewed outlook on Paris, my city my muse. Merci tout le monde!

1.  Quinn of Quinntessential Style

2. Coco and Vera

11.  Kimberly of A bit coquettish

12. Tricia of Patricia Parisienne

13. Sion of  Paris Imperfect

14. Carin of Paris in Four Months

15. De Quel Planète Es-Tu?

And now for the 7 interesting things about me part….

Hmmm. This is a hard one as I seldom allow myself to publish things about my personal self and my intimate life on here (although I did make a few exceptions in 2012 for my wedding to Chéri) so this makes me feel like I am going a bit out on a limb. Not that there is anything compromising here!!! LOL!

1. I come from a large family.

I have 8 siblings.

Yep.

That means there are nine of us. I think that also means we could probably start  our own baseball team.

But, we would rather just cheer for the Red Sox, mostly.

2. I have a twin sister.

We are non-identical. But we look quite similar sometimes. Our voices sound alike!

The Ladd Twins

3. I am classically trained in ballet.

I know the dance of the Sugarplum Fairy, and I am not afraid to use it!

For the dying swan dance which is a much more difficult piece, I just fake it, and with humor. My own invention of “modern” dance if-you-will.

Pas de deux, cape cod

4. I vote Democrat

But am a registered Independent.

5. I am very dairy-intolerant.

But many of you know that already.

6. I have done three road trips across the United States.

Before cel phones, laptops and wifi were something that everybody had. We used paper maps!

*GASP!*

Once on a greyhound bus from East to West.

Once halfway in a jeep and halfway in a Greyhound bus form West to East.

And a third time in a Ford Tempo I owned, West to East, and I was in shock when I made it across.

I was practically my own version of Dean Moriarty.

7. I grew up without a TV.

And I am better off for it.

Voilà!

Félicitations to the winners of my Beautiful Bloggers award! Don’t forget to pay it forward!

Pieces of Paris

1 May

For a long time my blog tag line has been : “Take a piece of Paris and call it yours”.

Lately I seem to have been in a mood to clean up clutter and streamline things. The desire to change it came over me, but I didn’t want to toss out the meaning (that being one of my blog acting as a window to the elements of Paris that I discover, love, hate and want to share with you). So I shortened it up and made it shiny : “Pieces of Paris” is my chic new motto.

Pieces Of Paris – part one from Prete Moi Paris on Vimeo.

I made you all a little video while on a Sunday stroll with Chéri, just to illustrate it. This is volume one of a multiple part series (the future parts have not yet been made, they will be spontaneous and colorful (weather permitting) and hopefully offer different moods to the different pieces of Paris!

Pretty Paris Pictures : Snow!

24 Jan

I am sure every Paris based blogger has been posting articles about the snow blanketed city of lights! Thanks to the delightful powdering by mother nature we all got to enjoy winter for once in the city-that-rarely-gets-snow.

So now, allow me to add mine to the list. :-)

Also you can visit Le Figaro’s collection of photos of Paris under the snow, where you can see how pretty it is, and Parisians having fun, and *gasp* helping eachother!

I also enjoyed A French Frye In Paris’ post with pictures of all the snowy playfulness in Montmartre!

Enjoy!

My Red Bubble Paris boutique!

5 Dec

Bonjour mes cheris!

I was introduced via twitter to a site called Red Bubble. A place where designers and creatives can create products with their own designs, and *gasp* sell them! I LOVE the concept! Being a creative junkie myself, and always hungry to “make” something…I hoped on that bandwagon in a Paris minute.

So far I only have a few iphone cases designed, but I hope to soon add more.

As many of you bloggers out there know, owning and curating a site like this takes a lot of extra cash, and time (and time= money, as they say)…and sometimes it is nice to have a little bit of a return on the investment. And what’s even better is that I get to be creative in the meantime!

Check back often on my Reb Bubble shop and see if I have added anything new. I will surely let you know here if I do!

♥ Prête-Moi Paris celebrates 3 years! ♥

23 Oct

♥ ♥ ♥

Moi, Photo by Kasia Dietz

So Prête-Moi Paris turned 3 years old very recently (plus I am celebrating 10 years since my arrival in Paris!!!) and I thought I deserved a party….so I threw one!

Within just one month’s time of organisation, I gathered together some of the best people and elements I know in the City of Lights, to collaborate with and help me create and event that not only I would enjoy and celebrate but where my friends could benefit too! There was champagne, and cupcakes and frills and a specially made cocktail (a recipe post is in the works), and lots of pink, and sweets, and awesome prizes that were raffled off (for free of course) so that I could promote some of my favorite brands and services that I have blogged about or tested over the past three years.

Laggridore, luxury perfume

30 Jul

image

I was contacted recently by a new perfume company and asked if I was interested in writing about their product. After a brief description and a browse of their website I said “Oui!” but that I thought it best if I “discovered” their perfume in person. (I much prefer to blog about things I have tasted or tested or touched. It gives a more authentic perception for my readers. So I set up a meeting with François Marmey who represents the company and is putting together an internet publicity campaign. He said I was one of the first bloggers to respond, which makes me happy to be one of the first bloggers to write about it from a first-hand experience! We met for an after-work glass of wine at the Crillon hotel (I figured that the discovery of a new luxe product called for a luxe setting). We took a table on the indoor courtyard patio as the weather was nice for a change, and the tables are large enough so we had space to spread out the products and test them.

So, this perfume…oh my goodness it is right up my alley!!!! It’s different, it’s luxurious (although not TOO expensive) and it’s beautiful. The three things I love about it the most are : The manner in which it is applied, the presentation of the product, and the reflection that has gone into so many aspects of this product to make it a true luxury product. Life is a Circus, Love is Forever!

22 Jun

My first day as Madame Chéri, has been full of joy and love and pure bliss…

The festivities of the wedding are still swirling around in my happy head, and I am so moved by all of the love and support that poured out of the people who came to help us celebrate our union. I cannot thank you all enough.

Our friends (and my amazing father) who all pitched in to take all those circus decorations that I have been working on for a year, and set up the reception hall, went above and beyond what I would have asked of them. They made the room overflow with magic! Continue reading

The Dress

21 Jun

At the very moment this post is being published I am most likely in the midst of my wedding vows to the love of my life. But I have scheduled it as such so that Chéri will not get a glimpse of the dress before the fateful hour!

Paris Wedding Wednesday : D day is tomorrow!

20 Jun

It has been over a year since Chéri proposed to me, and just about as long that I have been planning this wedding…

Tomorrow is the BIG day. I am nervous. Not about marrying my Chéri, THAT is a sure thing! I am nervous about this event being pulled off to perfection, or at least without any major mishaps.

I have been putting so much energy into the preparation of this wedding, because I believe that a special event like this should be personalized. I want our day to resemble us, Chéri and I; to be filled with us, as a sort of definition of who we are as a couple. I have hand made most of the elements of decoration for the event, all around a theme that I conceptualized with Chéri’s enthusiastic agreement : the Circus. ….. Because life IS a circus, and we must learn to not take everything too seriously even though we will solemnly make our vows to one another. So in that vein, Chéri keeps telling me, “something will go wrong at the wedding, for sure, but that’s ok because tout va bien“. And this helps my nervousness tremendously. Continue reading

Priceless Paris & Roland Garros

17 Jun

I was invited recently to experience “Priceless Paris” with Mastercard‘s new concept (I was invited through Happy Curious) to the Roland Garros tennis stadium for the annual French tournament (what the Anglophones call the French Open). I have NEVER been to a tennis match, nor am I a huge sports fan. I like sports when “my” team is winning the finals, or when it’s the Olympics. But it’s not every day I get invited to major world sporting events and the Roland Garros tournament is quite prestigious, so I thought I better go! Continue reading

Eric Bompard – cozy cashmire!

13 Jun

Photo : Lauren Cashwell

I headed over to the Champs Elysées to pop into the Eric Bompard boutique on a freakishly humid and muggy day this May for their press day. Cashmere and sweaters was certainly not the first thing on my mind, rather how many layers could I take off and where could I get a refreshing drink! Luckily they offered me a cold glass of sparkling water, and the A/C was on! Yes! Continue reading

Monuments off the Beaten Path – The Château de Chantilly

6 Jun

Post by contributor Jenny Bailey

Parc du Château de Chantilly, by Esther Westerveld

With so many tourists visiting Paris every year looking for great deals, it’s hard to imagine that there are still some places that are relatively unheard of. Away from some of the more popular attractions, there are however various monuments that are equally as impressive. One of these is the Château de Chantilly – a beautiful castle located in one of the largest forests near Paris, Le Massif de Trois Forêts, in the town of Chantilly. It is home to the Grand Stables, various courtyards and gardens, a lake and the Musée Condé – one of the country’s finest art galleries. Continue reading

Caron, perfume and powder for a century

3 Jun

The perfume house of Caron has been around for over one hundred years. A small but respected entity, it was created in 1904 by Ernest Daltroff, a chemist from a family of perfume artists. He teamed up with his brother Raoul and Félicie Wanpouille who had been a popular dress maker and stylist. Together they began an enterprise that is still going strong today and seems to grow in prestige every year. Continue reading

My ultimate dream apartment in Paris

20 May

The last time I visited a luxury apartment with Lodgis, I told Laetitia about this apartment I had seen on their srite about 4 years ago, and how it had become the apartment to which I compared all others (luxury dream apartments). And I was sad when I saw it disappear from the site (and could no longer daydream over the images). But a couple of months ago, I was browsing their website and daydreaming over which one I would pick if I had several million lying in the bank…and there. it. was. My ultimate dream apartment suddenly reappeared! I took it as a sign and bought a lottery ticket that very day. (No I did not win, in case you were wondering!) LOL!

But after having told Laetitia about it, she surprised me a week later with a proposal for a rendez-vous to see the place with the owner. I was so thrilled I could hardly contain myself! I would actually get to see my ultimate dream apartment in person?!? Youpiiii! I never thought I would ever step through the door of that incredible one-of-akind place. Continue reading

Paris Wedding Wednesday : DIY napkins

9 May

I saw the concept of personalized napkins on theknot.com but they don’t ship to France, so I thought I’d make my own!

image

I bought a “Life is a Circus” stamp on Etsy (a site that I am obsessed with!) And then created my own personalized stamps on rubberstamps.net with images I had created with an image editing program called Gimp (on which I could literally spend hours designing things). The stamps cost me about 10 dollars (shipping not included) but they thankfully do ship to France.
