Pastels and purple hues, mesh and asymetrics, Luis Buchinho wanted a fun carefree flirty collection for Spring 2015. The show I attened in September translated to me as sort of a fashion « multi-pass ».
Read on to see what I mean…
Multi-fasceted fashion if-you-will… There’s a LOT of see-through and mesh in this collection… (I’m kind of wondering how some of it will be wearable at anything other than a post-beach party). But I love the layering and color-blocking and the off-kilter cut (that he has been doing for some time now). These multi-identity pieces seem to go along with the social atmosphere these days, and our mixture of online identities and real-life identities, a little « see-through » that allows the internet to peek into our lives, a little exposure, or a lot of exposure, and several elements in one piece/person… That’s the social landscape I see, and it seems Luis Buchinho has integrated the concept into his designs, perhaps without knowing… or maybe it’s part of the way we all function and think now, automatically.
Regardless of where the inspiration originates from, I found the collection fresh and fun. There’s a simplicity still that remains even through the complication of fabric melange and hi-lo dress hems. It’s a balance that he always seems to find, and that I enjoy in Buchinho’s collections.
