Dose Café on Rue Mouffetard
I used to head to the Sugarplum Cake Shop often, but now I tend to frequent Laurel Sanderson’s new place Treize. But the 5th was really where I created some of my cherished memories as a student in Paris, like most students do. It’s a very student oriented neighborhood, and my second year here, I lived in a tiny little chambre de bonne on rue Laromiguière, just a few steps away from place Contrescarpe and rue Moufftard. I have much nostalgia of that year and so I return to rue Mouffetard with a light heart and a smile on my face.
It’s been a while since I was over in the 5th arrondissement.
The occassion was to have coffee with some of my friends from the expat plogging community here in Paris, Particia who I have know for a little while now and Lauren whom I met recently at a delightful concert of Sinfonietta. It’s a darling spot about halfway down that famous cobblestone street and opened recently (December 2013). The two founders met in business school and have become entrepreneur partners with this charming endeavor as their first challenge. But it isn’t just a coffee shop, it is also a coffee dealer! HmmmMmmm! An award winning torrefacteur from Brittany is their supplier. So not only can they cater to us coffee shop fiends, but they can also cater to OTHER coffee shops who are looking for a good coffee to peddle.
Have some pastries to go with your coffee as you waste away a perfect Paris afternoon on their little covered terrace or indoors where there are plenty of plugs for your various electronic devices. Homemade pastries come from Rachels’ Cakes. Yum! If you head there tag us in an instagram so we can see your yummy treats! @PreteMoiParis #dosedealerdecafe
But what is the best part of Dose Café??? The take out window of course!!!!
