While le jour de la Saint-Valentin might be coming to the city of love, the action doesn’t have to end there – as there’s plenty going on in the capital this month. We’ve got some highlights for you…

5-9 Feb – Retromobile Fair

If you’re a classic car lover, and don’t have a date lined up yet for Valentine’s Day, you’re in luck as the 39th annual Retromobile Fair is coming to town. Showcasing over 400 vintage cars from around the world, the event is due to take place at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre in the 15th arrondissement. 9 Feb from 1pm Chinese New Year Parade

If you can’t make it to Asia to ring in the year of the wooden horse, you can join in the city’s biggest Chinatown festivities instead. Based in the heart of the 13th arrondissement in the Marais and Belleville neighbourhoods, the annual Nouvel An Chinais is the largest in the country and features a traditional celebration with firecrackers, dragons and the parade. 14-23 Feb – Romeo & Juliette

If you’re looking for a different way to spend Valentine’s Day without compromising on romance, this Moscow Ballet Theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet is une excellente option. Taking place at Palais des Congres, this classical rendition of Shakespeare’s famous love story is running for 10 days straight. Check out this site for tickets:

22 Feb – 2 March

If you love animals, and for something REALLY different, there is the popular Salon International de l’Agriculture (agricultural fair), where produce and livestock are petted and fetted to the hearts content of many a frenchman. Former french president Jacques Chirac was famous for spending hours at agricultural fairs admiring the beasts and harvests on display. If you are looking form something completely authentic, this is certainly THE place to go.

25 Feb-5 March – Paris Fashion Week

Finalement, the most famous fashion event of the season also kicks off this month. If you’re lucky enough to snag a spot at a show, you can watch the crème de la crème of French designers unveil their Autumn/Winter 2014-15 collections at a number of venues around the city.     1. Well Chéri has a late evening event he must be at so I’ll probably have a nice hot bath, a glass or two of bubbly and a good chick flick movie session! 🙂
