Vue sur Paris – A room with a view
People love to climb the Eiffel tower to see the view that spreads out below them up those 1789 steps (yes that’s 1789 steps in remembrance of the French revolution mind you). I myself am a big fan of the Dame de fer (the iron Lady as the French call her). But I don’t think any view in Paris could be THAT good without her in it! And if you’re on top of the tower, you can’t see her in the view below, now can you.
There are several spots where she sets the scene like nothing else can, and one of them is on top of the Georges Pompidou center. At the top of the modern art museum of Paris, there is a restaurant fittingly called Georges. Panoramic windows give a full range of sights to gaze upon if your dinner date isn’t too hot, and there is a terrace full of tables for seasonal dining under the open sky. And if that isn’t enough, the interior gives an echo of the modern art theme of the museum, a Costes design . There’s an industrial-slash-Dali type of feel to the decor that has soft shapes, a juxtaposition of both warm and cool colors and hard materials. Chez Georges they also understand attention to detail, one long stem rose is set upon each table. A great way to spend a lavish afternoon post museum visit, or for a romantic evening with your amour. Georges has the view you always wanted…a pretty date framed by the backdrop that is Paris.
Lunch or dinner with a view you’ll talk about for a long time after. Reservations recommended. World cuisine. Expect to spend between 50-70€ per person.

We ate at Georges about 2 years ago and agree the view is unbeatable. We also had a nice view of Vincent Cassel as we were leaving (he’s so hot!). 😛 It’s funny – was just discussing places for good views in Paris and wanted to add Hotel Raphael’s terrace. It’s a bit expensive but also offers an amazing view of our lovely city.
