Summer was here, and didn’t this Brit know it! Anything generally above ten degrees celsius sends me into a broad-spectrum decline of complaining how unbearably sweltering it is and re-sighting dramatically about how I may not make it to the fall, by falling face first on to a thirty degree pavement. I was already looking forward to the fall, it’s my much-loved time of year as the temperatures drop, the lights around Paris come on earlier and there are abundances of leaves on the ground, Just in case I drop face first.
So, what better way to get in the mood than to go to an haute couture show by Oscar Carvallo with his new collections for fall/winter 2014. Recently I’d become single again, and getting out and about mingling with some fashionistas was just what the heartbreak doctor had ordered. He’d also ordered that I adopt a cat called Willow and that I started reading a book called ‘Good Husband Material’… Yes, I have to hide the front cover when I sit on the metro, however the only first-rate husband material that I was managing to unearth in the so called ‘city of love’ was 100g of chocolate every night and a Starbucks by the river everyday. They were dependable, I knew what I was getting, and I kind of knew that they weren’t good for me. Sounds like the ideal husband, no?
Fine, I’ve turned in to the cat lady at twenty-seven but on the contrary, I do own a lint roll. Anyway enough of that, before I put you all off of Paris completely! It’s the 10th of July and I’m getting ready to go to the show and as I’m becoming a bit of a navy fan, I thought that would be the outfit of choice for the evening. I threw on the navy glasses to complete the look and tried to make my pile of hair into a decent form with it’s nest like appearance, I’m quite certain that I saw a few sparrows fly out of the back of my barnet, but it’s the best it was going to get, so off I went leaving Willow swinging from the clothes horse, keeping herself entertained.
The show was set in the town hall of the forth district, which is a beautiful building! I was expecting to be impressed, but I was blown away this time around at the shows! The collection was entitled ‘Save Our Souls’.
The clothes were literally stunning, created with structure and clean lines in mind but soft at the same time. The colours that we’re used were soft and pastel like (powdered rose) but with a pearl and iridescent texture at the same time. It really was a collection of something strong yet soft. Enjoy the photos and the video!
