Vintage Car Ralley

If you have been following my blog for a decent amount of time, you then know that my favorite car is the 2CV! And there is a car service company in Paris that has pulled on my cute-little-car-lover’s heart strings : 4 roues sous 1 parapluie. I even used them for my wedding!

Well they sent me a press release for their second edition of this ralley : Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (the most beautiful villages of France) which takes from Paris to Cannes just in time for the famous film festival, I just had to share it with all of you. Can you imagine arriving in that kind of spectacular style?!? A line of darling and colorful 2CV?!? I wish so much I could do this but alas, I cannot take a week off work in May. But I hope some of you, my readers and fans will take advantage of the event, or plan your trip to France around it next year! This has got to be one of the most delightfully French and charming ideas I have ever heard of doing in France. I would give anything…. (almost)….

4 roues sous 1 parapluie :

From 12th to 19th May, 4 roues sous 1 parapluie and the association Les Plus Beaux Villages de France organize the second edition of an exceptional 2CV rally between Paris and Cannes. Adventure, conviviality and French lifestyle will be the keywords of this road trip!

The idea: by crew of two or four attendees aboard a convertible 2 CV car, join up about twenty of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France® from Paris to Cannes, and celebrate French lifestyle of our villages, through the discovery of their heritage, terroir and hospitality. All ingredients are gathered to live an unforgettable and
unique experience:

• An exceptional event dedicated to the most mythical convertible car, the 2CV
• A road which connects about twenty villages labeled as «Les Plus Beaux Villages de France®»
• An original scenario of treasure hunt with riddles, clues, ranking and final award
• Charming and welcoming stops
• An arrival at Cannes during the famous Film Festival!

For its first edition in 2012, the concept of the rally had seduced attendess from Australia, New-Zealand and China, some of these will even come back this year with
their friends! Let’s meet on Sunday, May 12th, 2013 in Paris for a welcoming breakfast between 8.00 and 9.00 am! Participants will be given their road book including official road map and tourist guide of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France®, as well as clues to find the first stage of the route. At the final stage, attendees will have to solve the final riddle to gain the rally!

way of living.

Created in 1982, Les Plus Beaux Villages de France includes today 156 villages, selected for their patrimonial wealth and architectural quality. Unite strengths and passions to protect and promote the outstanding heritage of these exceptional villages, and to give an economic impulsion based on French lifestyle, this has been the ambition
of this association for more than 30 years.

OK, that looks like a blast. Not sure whether I’d rather participate… or photograph it. Either way, very cool.

Leave a thought or two!
