Havre d’automne – Fall haven

The Parc des Batignolles, in the 17th is a haven from the hustle and bustle that one often finds in that arrondissement. The other large garden in the 17th, Parc Monceau, can often be over crowded and the element of relaxation that one usually attaches to the city parcs just seems to vanish (like in the Jardin Luxembourg for example where you have to fight for a chair).

The Parc des Batignolles is also a haven to many different types of our feathered friends, and there are signs posted that explain what the different species are. They also ask you not to feed them.

The park is situated behind the little church Sainte-Marie des Batignolles which sits next to a lovely tree-lined pedestrian square : Place du Dr Félix Lobligeois. This is the perfect place to find yourself on a crisp and sunny Fall afternoon, or on a lazy summer day. Benches are a-plenty and the abundant foliage provides a wonderful change of scenery from the pavement and stone architecture, which although they are lovely, sometimes, when you dwell in a big city, you just need to see a little nature around you.

Hi Melissa – thanks for this post. You know I collect all things Parisian, and this was missing from my collection! I can’t actually believe I’ve never been here before, but I can’t remember it if I have..
And you’ve also taken some rather nice photos of it I see. I’ll have to pop over there and do the same – I can’t stand it when someone else has pictures of a bit of Paris that I don’t!!! Call me avaricious..!
