Oscar Carvallo SS2013 Couture Collection

Sea themed.

Oscar Carvallo returned to the inspiration of his home by the sea, which he said inspires all of his work really. He worked metallics and lace, shimmering ladies of the sea waltzed on assured sea-legs down the catwalk at the Shangri-la luxury hotel ballroom.

Pretty Paris Pictures : Snow!

I am sure every Paris based blogger has been posting articles about the snow blanketed city of lights! Thanks to the delightful powdering by mother nature we all got to enjoy winter for once in the city-that-rarely-gets-snow.

So now, allow me to add mine to the list. :-)

Also you can visit Le Figaro’s collection of photos of Paris under the snow, where you can see how pretty it is, and Parisians having fun, and *gasp* helping eachother!

I also enjoyed A French Frye In Paris’ post with pictures of all the snowy playfulness in Montmartre!

Enjoy!

Pictours Paris Bridal Shoot

So, bridal modeling seems to be somewhat of a partime pro-bono vocation for me lately… I mean what’s not to love about getting primped and dolled up, putting on a frilly gown and prancing around in front of a camera! I mean who wouldn’t want ot do that!?!
So when Lyndsey Kent of Pictours Paris sent out a tweet looking for models to shoot a promo for her new bridal services and wedding package, I was all about that!

Le Crillon, Jardin d’Hiver in the Summer

As Summer draws to a close I thought it would be nice to show you my favorite place to relax in Paris this season. The Crillon has one of the most tranquil, pretty and soothing places to sit quietly and enjoy a beverage with a friend or two. Le Jardin d’Hiver patio. Jardin d’hiver, means winter garden, but it’s my little escape in the Summer time. Continue reading

Paris is a moment…

Sometimes that Parisian moment can last a matter of hours, a day, several months, a year, a few years, a decade…more…a lifetime or beyond.

What makes Paris so special? I think it is the moments that are spent here, that go fleeting by, and we try so desperately to grasp them and make them last longer then they do. We bask in this beautiful place, feeling like kings for a day, a month, a year, or more, and think to ourselves…how did we get so lucky? Continue reading

Jantaminiau Couture AW1213

It was a romantic comedia del arte feeling at the Jantaminiau couture show in Paris for the Autumn-Winter 2012-2013 collection. Bold and bright colors, voluminous tulle and geometric patterns that make us think of traditional Italian theater, Comedia del Arte… But isn’t that what couture is all about?!? The theatrics of the creativity of fashion, of couture…?!? This is what couture should do, I believe. It’s a show, a creation, impractical (sometimes) and beautiful, always beautiful always stunning. A piece of art. Like a staged spectacle. Continue reading

Didit Hediprasetyo – Couture AW1213

Video by Lauren Cashwell

There is a continuation this season of a certain cut, line and silouhette from Didit Hediprasetyo that segways nicely from last season’s couture collection, but presented with an injection of a bit more romance and quite a few more whimsical details.

The most immediate of those details being the color : a shimmering and delicate lavender shade, that when paired with the jet black coiffs of the models and the piercing ice colored eyes, gives of an idea of winter love and beauty. Continue reading

Science et Mer Paris

I was recently invited to a presentation event of Science & Mer Paris products that took place in their lovely offices just be hind the Madeleine.

We were introduced to a brand that holds it’s clout in the scientific research used to create the cosmetics they sell. These laboratories, Science & Mer, produce cosmetics for many other brands (although they are restricted by contract from revealing which ones) for the past 25 years, and they finally decided to create their own brand to be able to profit from all that research and development that they do!

Eric Bompard – cozy cashmire!

Photo : Lauren Cashwell

I headed over to the Champs Elysées to pop into the Eric Bompard boutique on a freakishly humid and muggy day this May for their press day. Cashmere and sweaters was certainly not the first thing on my mind, rather how many layers could I take off and where could I get a refreshing drink! Luckily they offered me a cold glass of sparkling water, and the A/C was on! Yes! Continue reading

My ultimate dream apartment in Paris

The last time I visited a luxury apartment with Lodgis, I told Laetitia about this apartment I had seen on their srite about 4 years ago, and how it had become the apartment to which I compared all others (luxury dream apartments). And I was sad when I saw it disappear from the site (and could no longer daydream over the images). But a couple of months ago, I was browsing their website and daydreaming over which one I would pick if I had several million lying in the bank…and there. it. was. My ultimate dream apartment suddenly reappeared! I took it as a sign and bought a lottery ticket that very day. (No I did not win, in case you were wondering!) LOL!

But after having told Laetitia about it, she surprised me a week later with a proposal for a rendez-vous to see the place with the owner. I was so thrilled I could hardly contain myself! I would actually get to see my ultimate dream apartment in person?!? Youpiiii! I never thought I would ever step through the door of that incredible one-of-akind place. Continue reading
