The Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris is a great place to see a fashion show.  It is a little isolated into the 8th and the further you go down this cobblestone street the more you fall in love with the calm serenity that Paris also has to offer.  It was my first time there and I was seeing Diogo Miranda who is also from Portugal (see my other post on portuguese deisgner Luis Buchinho)  and his Spring Summer collection.

The collection started very upbeat with colors like pink, and peachy pink and dreamy creamy colors.  We also saw a lot of very unusual cuts and of course pastels.

We then moved into a short segment of more natural colors like browns and whites, and a nice light beige looking outfit that I thought was just beautiful.

Mr. Miranda was able to pull a lot of elements into one look.  Mixing of textures and fabrics, hemline layering and wide belted waistlines marked the cut of the Spring collection. He has numerous pieces in his collection  with a cinched waist and a pencil skit on top of a longer swing skirt that lengthens the silhouette  flowing gracefully.  It looks stunning on the runway and adds a bit of intrigue to his pieces with the layered effect that it creates. He also is bringing back the pantsuit, with wide bellbottom legs done in an elegant fashion.

Mr. Miranda’s draping is varied and visible.  I love beautiful draping so I hope to see this element from him next season.  His pleat work is also impressive and accents a very elegant very feminine silhouette. Towards the end of the show we saw a lot of evening wear and black came in to contrast with the bright pink and pale peaches.  From the colors that were used to the cuts, Mr. Miranda seemed to satisfy the crowd at the Espace Cardin.  I cannot wait to see what he comes up with for next Fall.
